Rent a Hybrid Articulating Boom Lift – One Machine for Indoors and Outdoors
Hybrid articulating boom lifts combine two drives in one machine: a combustion engine for travelling on rough terrain and an electric drive for work with zero local emissions in enclosed spaces. The term bi-energy is also commonly used for this. Luibl Rental rents out hybrid articulating boom lifts with working heights of up to 49 metres – delivered on our own low-loader from Passau, throughout Switzerland and to large parts of Europe.
The benefit lies not in the technology itself, but in the fact that a project can manage with one machine instead of two. Precisely where outdoor and indoor work follow one another, this saves an entire transport operation.
When the Hybrid Drive Pays Off
For purely indoor use, the electric articulating boom lift is the more economical choice; for continuous outdoor work, the diesel version. Hybrid pays off in four scenarios:
- Switching between outdoor and indoor work within the same project – for example a facade followed by installation work in the hall, without swapping the machine.
- Sites without a reliable power supply – the combustion engine recharges the battery, while electric operation remains available.
- Emission- or noise-sensitive environments – city centres, hospitals, food production facilities, heritage conservation. In electric mode the machine operates locally emission-free and considerably more quietly.
- Long working days – where a purely battery-powered machine would reach the limit of its runtime, the second drive bridges the gap.
Machines in the Rental Fleet
In the hybrid segment, our fleet includes the Niftylift HR 21 Hybrid and HR 28 Hybrid as well as the Genie Z60-37FE. These series cover the range from around 20 metres up to the top class and are designed for dual-mode operation – all-wheel drive and oscillating axles for rough terrain, non-marking tyres for sensitive floors.
Which machine is the right fit depends less on the drive than on working height, outreach and basket load. The more weight in the basket, the lower the permissible outreach – so please tell us the work point, set-up position and load.
What to Consider in Hybrid Operation
Switching between the drives is straightforward for the operator, but you should plan for two points:
- Charging time. Electric operation is only available as long as the battery is charged. For longer indoor phases, plan for recharging or alternating operation.
- Dead weight. Two drivetrains mean more mass than a purely electric machine. Check the permissible point load at the set-up location and the load-bearing capacity of floors, slabs and access routes in advance.
As with any mobile elevating work platform, safe operation requires the following: operating personnel must be instructed in accordance with VUV, and personal fall protection equipment is mandatory on the platform. Every machine leaves our rental fleet with a valid inspection in accordance with VUV and complete documentation.
What Does a Hybrid Articulating Boom Lift Cost?
The rental price is determined by the same factors as for the other designs: working height, outreach, rental period and transport. Hybrid machines are generally priced above the comparable electric and diesel versions, because two drivetrains are installed. This becomes economical where they replace a second machine or an additional transport – the higher daily rate is then offset by a delivery saved.
Daily, weekly and monthly rates are tiered. Delivery and collection are shown separately and depend on the distance from Passau, transport weight and site access. Included are the inspected machine, maintenance and recurring inspections during the rental period, and technical advice.
Tell us the working height, required outreach, ground conditions, rental period and site location – and you will receive an itemised quote. All designs at a glance: Rent articulating boom lifts, the complete range in our rental fleet.
