10 to 18 tonnes – Industrial heavyweights for special applications EP EFL 1002 (electric, 10t, 5m), Hyundai 160D-9 (diesel, 16t, 4.52m), Kalmar DCG 180-6T (diesel, 18t, 4.5m). For container logistics, scrap handling, steel processing and industrial plants.
Comparing Drive Types: Electric, Diesel or LPG?
The choice of drive type depends on the site, load requirements and the emissions regulations at your facility.
Electric forklifts are emission-free, quiet and gentle on floors – the first choice for warehouse logistics, food production, cold stores and businesses subject to emissions restrictions. Available in the Luibl fleet from 1.5 to 10t, with lift heights of up to 6m.
Diesel forklifts are powerful and rugged, suited to all outdoor applications – unaffected by weather or variable ground conditions. Available in the fleet from 3 to 18t. The standard choice for construction sites, ports, timber yards and scrap handling.
LPG forklifts combine flexibility for indoor and outdoor use with high lift capacity. The Hyundai 40L-7A (4t, 6.03m lift height) and the Hyundai 70L-7A (7t) are typical examples for logistics centres and wholesale operations without strict indoor emissions restrictions.
Renting vs. Buying a Forklift – When It Pays Off
Renting a counterbalance forklift pays off when demand is project-based or seasonal (trade fairs, relocations, harvest campaigns), capacity requirements vary, or short-term peaks in demand need to be bridged. All Luibl rental equipment is handed over serviced and inspected – maintenance and repair risks remain with the rental company.
Compared with buying, there is no capital tied up. The investment risk from changing requirements or technical advances is borne by the rental company.

Regulations and Safety: Who Is Permitted to Operate a Forklift?
Operating industrial trucks in Switzerland requires a valid certificate of competence. The legal basis is Ordinance 3 to the Employment Act (ArGV 3) in conjunction with VUV "Industrial Trucks". Only authorised and instructed persons may operate a forklift; the certificate of competence (Staplerausweis) is issued by the employer and must be renewed on a regular basis.
For heavy-duty machines from 10t upwards – such as the Hyundai 160D-9 or the Kalmar DCG 180-6T – the load-bearing capacity of the ground, safety clearances and, where applicable, the static loads of floors and bridges must be checked separately.
Note: Different national regulations may apply for deployments outside Switzerland. We recommend checking the relevant country-specific requirements in advance.
