Rent a Manitou Roto telehandler (MRT): one machine for lifting, crane work and working at height
With a Manitou Roto telehandler you rent a forklift, a crane and a work platform in one machine: the upper structure of the MRT series rotates 360 degrees while the stabilised chassis stays in one place. Luibl Rental has ten MRT models in its rental fleet, with 4,000 to 7,000 kg lifting capacity and 17.90 to 34.70 m lift height.
On tight construction sites, every repositioning of a fixed telehandler costs time: retract the stabilisers, manoeuvre, realign, set up again. On facades, halls and high-rise projects with many load points, this adds up over the day. A rotating telehandler covers the full circle around the machine from the same position. With the right attachment it also takes on tasks that would otherwise require a mobile crane or a separate aerial work platform.
Ten Manitou MRT models cover 17.90 to 34.70 m lift height
Which Manitou Roto is right depends on the lift height and the load at the furthest placement point. The rated capacity only applies close to the machine; as the outreach increases, the permissible load drops significantly according to the load chart. Choose the model based on the most demanding load point, not on the highest capacity.
Up to 18 m lift height: compact for tight sites and courtyards
- Manitou MRT 1840: 17.90 m lift height, 4,000 kg capacity, 15.10 m lateral reach, 2.39 m wide
- Manitou MRT 1845: 18.00 m lift height, 4,500 kg capacity, 15.20 m lateral reach
21 to 26 m lift height: the class for building construction and installation
- Manitou MRT 2150 Privilege: 20.60 m lift height, 5,000 kg capacity, 18.10 m lateral reach
- Manitou MRT 2260: 21.80 m lift height, 6,000 kg capacity, 18.20 m lateral reach
- Manitou MRT 2550 Privilege: 24.70 m lift height, 5,000 kg capacity, 21.40 m lateral reach
- Manitou MRT 2570: 24.80 m lift height, 7,000 kg capacity, 20.50 m lateral reach
- Manitou MRT 2660: 25.90 m lift height, 6,000 kg capacity, 21.70 m lateral reach
30 to 35 m lift height: for high facades, industry and steel construction
- Manitou MRT 3060: 29.90 m lift height, 6,000 kg capacity, 25.70 m lateral reach
- Manitou MRT 3570: 34.70 m lift height, 7,000 kg capacity, 28.00 m lateral reach
- Manitou MRT 3570 ES: 34.70 m lift height, 7,000 kg capacity, 28.00 m lateral reach
All models are diesel-powered. The full data sheets are available on the individual model pages.
Roto or fixed: a Manitou Roto pays off with many load points in a confined space
The Manitou Roto shows its strength wherever a fixed telehandler would constantly have to reposition. For pure material handling on open, level ground, a fixed machine is usually the more economical choice.
- Rotating upper structure: The MRT models slew the load all around the machine. One position covers load points in front of, beside and behind the machine.
- Stabilisers: All MRT models have stabilisers. They only reach full lift height and reach when stabilised; this ensures stability at great height but costs time with every repositioning.
- Lift height: The MRT series starts at around 18 m and goes up to 34.70 m. Below that, fixed telehandlers cover most tasks.
- Space requirement: Because the chassis stays in place, the Roto needs less manoeuvring space than a fixed machine that has to drive up to every load point.
If you mainly handle pallets on level ground, you will find suitable machines among our Manitou Fixed Telehandlers. The page Manitou telehandlers gives an overview of all Manitou types.
With attachments, the Manitou Roto becomes a crane or a work platform
The Roto telehandler changes its role via the attachment. Each attachment has its own load chart, which the operator must know before use.
- Fork carriage and pallet forks: Lift material onto floor slabs, scaffolding and roofs or unload trucks.
- Load hook, winch and jib: The MRT works as a mobile crane and places loads over obstacles such as parapets or roof overhangs.
- Work basket: With a basket approved for the model, the Roto becomes an aerial work platform for installation, facade work and maintenance at great height.
- Further attachments: We put together buckets and special grabs on request.
The overview Attachments for telehandlers shows which attachments suit your model. Mention the attachment you need in your enquiry so that we can schedule machine and tool together.
Weight and stabilisers decide whether the Manitou Roto fits your site
Depending on the model, a Manitou Roto weighs between 13,300 kg (MRT 1840) and 23,800 kg (MRT 3570). Clarify access, ground conditions and set-up area before you enquire.
- Access: The models are 2.39 to 2.50 m wide and 2.94 to 3.26 m high. Gates, passages and bends on the way to the set-up position must accommodate this.
- Ground: The stabilisers transfer the load into the ground at specific points. On soft ground, backfill or above basement ceilings, load-spreading pads are required; if in doubt, a structural engineer decides.
- Set-up area: Plan space for the extended stabilisers and the slewing range of the upper structure, and cordon off this area during operation.
- Transport: We organise transport by low-loader from our Passau location, throughout Switzerland and with over 200 locations in our network. The low-loader needs a paved surface for unloading.
Operating a Manitou Roto requires an additional qualification
Anyone operating a rotating telehandler needs more than basic telehandler training. In Switzerland, the Ordinance on Accident Prevention (VUV) requires that only trained and instructed persons operate such work equipment; this is specified in more detail by the EKAS guidelines and the SUVA information.
- Basic training: It qualifies the operator for the telehandler in forklift mode.
- Additional qualification for rotating machines: Telehandlers with a rotating upper structure require a separate additional qualification.
- Additional qualification for basket and crane operation: Anyone working with a work basket or load hook needs a further qualification for each. Personal fall protection equipment is mandatory in the basket.
- Instruction and assignment: The employer instructs the operator on the specific machine and assigns them to the job.
Luibl Rental does not offer training itself, but informs you about certified providers. More on the Trainings page.
