The main distinguishing feature of wheel loaders is the bucket volume. The volume is measured in cbm, with 1 cbm corresponding exactly to 1 m³ of bucket volume. A distinction is made between mini wheel loaders or compact loaders and large loaders.

Renting a mini wheel loader is very popular with our customers. They have a capacity of under 0.5 cbm and therefore have a much smaller bucket. They are frequently used in landscaping and garden construction. They can also be used well in all locations where space is limited, thanks to their smaller, narrower bucket. In addition, their own weight is significantly lower. They should not be confused with the mini excavator: it digs with a bucket on its boom, whereas the compact loader pushes and loads with its bucket. Large loaders are wheel loaders whose bucket has a capacity of over 1.5 m³. They belong to the class of heavy wheel loaders and take on the high-volume tasks. This includes extraction work, demolition work and moving large quantities of earth or rubble. However, they are much wider and find it harder to manoeuvre in tight spaces.

The next thing to consider when renting a wheel loader is the type of steering. A distinction is made between skid steering, articulated steering and all-wheel steering. Machines with skid steering can turn their wheels individually, allowing them to turn on the spot. This makes them very mobile in confined spaces.

With articulated steering, the front part of the machine moves independently when the steering wheel is turned. This allows for very precise alignment and positioning, enabling accurate tasks such as positioning pallets. All-wheel steered wheel loaders are extremely manoeuvrable. This makes them the best choice on construction sites where manoeuvrability plays a major role.

1. How much material do you move per hour? This determines the bucket volume. Compact loaders under 0.5 m³ work in landscaping and garden construction and wherever space is tight. Large loaders from 1.5 m³ handle demolition, extraction and the loading of large volumes.

2. How tight is the site? Width and turning circle decide the choice of machine more often than performance does. Articulated machines position very precisely, models with skid steering turn on the spot.

3. What else should the machine do besides loading? Pallet forks, snow blade, sweeper or grab considerably extend its range of use. Attachments are calculated separately and change the payload and tipping load.

For excavation and civil engineering work, the wheel loader is not the right machine – the excavator is. If material also has to be lifted to height, a telehandler is the more versatile machine – it loads, stacks and reaches over obstacles.

The rental price depends on machine class, bucket volume, attachments, rental period and transport. Daily, weekly and monthly rates are tiered; the longer the rental period, the lower the effective daily rate. Delivery and collection are shown separately from the equipment rental and depend on the distance from our Passau location, transport weight and site access.
