An electric scissor lift (also known as an electric scissor work platform, scissor lift table or battery-powered platform) raises people and materials vertically. The name comes from the X-shaped, interlocking scissor frame that carries the platform. Unlike articulating or telescopic boom lifts, the platform can only travel vertically – which makes the design more compact, more stable and better suited to confined indoor areas.

The drive runs on low-maintenance lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries. Non-marking tyres prevent scuff marks on epoxy resin and industrial floors. Every unit in the Luibl rental fleet is VUV/69 VUV-tested and checked for charge status, hydraulics and emergency-stop function before dispatch.

For shell-construction sites without a paved surface, diesel scissor lifts are the technically correct choice. For anything taking place in halls, warehouses or on concrete surfaces, the electric variant is the safer, cleaner and quieter solution.

Determining the Correct Working Height

The actual working height is always around 2 m above the platform height (arm's reach from the guardrail). A scissor lift with a 10 m platform height allows work at heights of up to approximately 12 m.

Calculating Load Capacity Realistically

Rule of thumb per VUV guideline: number of persons × 100 kg + tool weight + material weight per work cycle = minimum rated load. SN EN 280 prohibits any exceedance. The integrated overload protection automatically blocks lifting.

Compact models such as the Genie GS 1432m E-Drive (6.30 m working height, 0.77 m width, 885 kg unit weight) pass through standard interior doorways without modification.

Operating personnel must be instructed in accordance with ArGV 3 § 12 and VUV. Documented instruction by a competent person is mandatory. Before every start-up, the VUV / SUVA guidelines (incl. EKAS) require a visual and functional inspection.
