Rent Electric Scissor Lifts – Emission-Free Height Access from 6 to 33 m
Electric scissor lifts are the standard solution for indoor working-at-height tasks. The battery-powered drive produces no exhaust emissions, no sparking and virtually no noise – qualities that are not optional but mandatory in active production halls, logistics centres and sensitive cleanroom environments.
In the Luibl Rental & Sales fleet you'll find electric scissor lifts with 6.30 m to 33.00 m working height, load capacities from 227 kg to 1,000 kg and platform widths from 0.76 m. Delivery is available across Europe from over 200 locations using our own low-loader fleet – timed precisely to your project start.
What Is an Electric Scissor Lift?
An electric scissor lift (also known as an electric scissor work platform, scissor lift table or battery-powered platform) raises people and materials vertically. The name comes from the X-shaped, interlocking scissor frame that carries the platform. Unlike articulating or telescopic boom lifts, the platform can only travel vertically – which makes the design more compact, more stable and better suited to confined indoor areas.
The drive runs on low-maintenance lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries. Non-marking tyres prevent scuff marks on epoxy resin and industrial floors. Every unit in the Luibl rental fleet is VUV/69 VUV-tested and checked for charge status, hydraulics and emergency-stop function before dispatch.
Electric or Diesel – Which Scissor Lift Is Right for Your Project?
| Criterion | Electric Scissor Lift | Diesel Scissor Lift |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Indoor areas, paved outdoor surfaces | Construction sites, unpaved terrain |
| Emissions | None (emission-free) | Diesel/soot emissions |
| Noise level | Very quiet | Loud |
| Floor marking | Non-marking tyres | Standard tyres |
| Width | From 0.76 m (compact models) | Larger, heavier |
| Suitability for outdoor terrain | Paved surfaces only | Yes, including unpaved terrain |
For shell-construction sites without a paved surface, diesel scissor lifts are the technically correct choice. For anything taking place in halls, warehouses or on concrete surfaces, the electric variant is the safer, cleaner and quieter solution.
Technical Parameters: How to Choose the Right Model
Determining the Correct Working Height
The actual working height is always around 2 m above the platform height (arm's reach from the guardrail). A scissor lift with a 10 m platform height allows work at heights of up to approximately 12 m.
Calculating Load Capacity Realistically
Rule of thumb per VUV guideline: number of persons × 100 kg + tool weight + material weight per work cycle = minimum rated load. SN EN 280 prohibits any exceedance. The integrated overload protection automatically blocks lifting.
Checking Width and Clearance Height
| Bottleneck | Clear Width | Recommended Machine Width |
|---|---|---|
| DIN standard door (18100) | 0.875 m | ≤ 0.77 m |
| Fire door (T30/T90) | Varies | Measure clear dimensions in advance |
| Freight elevator | Check cabin depth | Consider unit's own weight |
Compact models such as the Genie GS 1432m E-Drive (6.30 m working height, 0.77 m width, 885 kg unit weight) pass through standard interior doorways without modification.
Typical Applications for Electric Scissor Work Platforms
- Installing LED lighting, ventilation ducts and sprinkler systems in active production halls
- Electrical installation, cable trays and transformer equipment in logistics centres
- Drywall construction, facade cladding and exhibition stand building indoors
- Maintenance and inspection of conveyor systems and racking structures in high-bay warehouses
- Maintenance in automotive, pharmaceutical and food production facilities
For maintenance work in high-bay warehouses with aisle widths under 1.50 m, specialised narrow-aisle scissor lifts (HAB S280, HAB S320, Holland Lift HL330) are available with working heights of up to 33 m.
Who Is Allowed to Operate an Electric Scissor Lift?
Operating personnel must be instructed in accordance with ArGV 3 § 12 and VUV. Documented instruction by a competent person is mandatory. Before every start-up, the VUV / SUVA guidelines (incl. EKAS) require a visual and functional inspection.
Luibl supplies exclusively VUV-inspected equipment with complete inspection documentation.
Rental Duration and Process
Electric scissor lifts are available for rent by the day, by the week, or for longer construction projects. Delivery and collection are handled by our own low-loader fleet from over 200 locations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries.
